Toll on highways anti-people: Rizvi

BNP Senior Joint Secretary-General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi told about the Prime Minister’s order to collect toll from the highway, The government is making such a decision to cut people’s pockets, and PM’s directive is anti-people.

He said this at a press conference at the party office in Nayapalton on Friday noon (September 6).

Rizvi said, The highways of the country are not suitable for collecting toll. By paying toll on the roads, bus fares will increase. In the meantime, the transport owners rent more than the government fixed rent, and the toll money will be collected from the passengers.

On the other hand, PM Sheikh Hasina told on Tuesday (Sep-3) that toll not only for using bridges but also for using the national highways like Dhaka to Chattogram, Dhaka to Rangpur, Dhaka to Sylhet and Dhaka to Khulna.

Planning Minister MA Manna has told the media that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has directed the authorities concerned to think about taking measures in this regard and the collected toll, will be spent on maintenance, repair and uplift of the national highways,
