Prime minister Sheikh Hasina on Wednesday paid homage to Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, founding president of Bangladesh, in Tungipara of Gopalganj marking installation of her government for the third consecutive term.

The prime minister paid tributes to Sheikh Mujib by placing wreaths at his graveyard at noon.

After laying the wreaths, Sheikh Hasina stood there in solemn silence for some time as a mark of profound respect to the founding president of the country.

PM also offered fateha and joined a special munajat seeking eternal peace of Sheikh Mujib and other martyrs of the August 15 carnage.

Later, accompanied by her cabinet colleagues and senior Awami League leaders, Hasina placed another wreath at the shrine. She also joined a milad and doa mahfil held on the Mausoleum premises.

Advisers to the PM, AL parliament members and central leaders, cabinet secretary, secretaries concerned to the prime minister as well as senior civil and military officials were also present on the occasion.
