Rapid Action Battalion on Thursday night detained one of the dedicated security officials of jailed Bangladesh Nationalist Party chairperson Kahleda Zia in the capital’s Shaymali.
On Friday night, the family members said retired squadron leader Wahid Un Nabi, a member of BNP chairperson’s security force and online activist, was picked up by Rapid Action Battalion and was neither released nor produced in court in Dhaka.
The RAB-2 commanding officer Lieutenant Colonel Anwar Uz Zaman told New Age early Friday that the retired official was taken to their custody for interrogation over some information and communications technology issues.
‘We were told that he would be handed over to the police but it was not done yet,’ said Faizur Rahman, brother-in-law of the arrestee.
A number of online activists told New Age that Wahid, also a profession pilot, was critical of the ruling Awami League and its ‘misdeeds’. He used to post critical reflections on political issues on the social media platform,
