Bangladesh Nationalist Party standing committee member Moudud Ahmed on Saturday said the present Awami League government was a model of one-party rule not of development.
Addressing a seminar organised by Bangladesh Nari O Sishu Adhikar Forum at Supreme Court Bar Association auditorium, he said, ‘the government claim themselves to be role model of development. We want to say that now Bangladesh is a role model of lack of democracy, culture of impunity, one party rule, snatching people’s right to vote.’
Mentioning huge number of rape incidents and oppression on women and children, he said such a situation occurred as the country had been witnessing culture of impunity and lacked rule of law and the government lacked accountability.
He said BNP chief Khaleda Zia would never be released on parole but through street movement.
Nagarik Oikya convener Mahmudur Rahman Manna said the country, since the war of independence, never witnessed such an oppressive government.
Presided over by the forum president and BNP standing committee member Selima Rahman, the seminar was also addressed by BNP vice-chairmen Khandaker Mahbub Hossain and, Nitai Chandra Roy, Zainul Abedin and AZM Zahid Hossain and Dhaka University law teacher Asif Nazrul, among others.
