BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has demanded that on Monday (Sep-16) the government sack Jahangirnagar University Vice Chancellor Farzana Islam immediately for reportedly bribing Chhatra League leaders.

Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir told this at the National Press Club on Monday (Sep-16) demanding the release of BNP chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia.

Fakhrul Islam told: why should only two students, BCL president and secretary (Rabbani, Shovon) be removed? The VC Farzana Islam should either resign or be sacked immediately.

He also said that there’s an interesting news item that the offence of demanding bribe at Jahangirnagar University has been named as ‘fair share’. This means the percentage BCL leaders (Rabbani, Shovon) demanded is their ‘fair share’. The University VC has already given Tk 1 crore as bribe.

Fakhrul Islam told that corruption has grasped every sector and institutions, including health’ education and judiciary, as there is no accountability of the current (AL) government.

He told that the VC (Md. Akhtaruzzaman) and deans of Dhaka University admitted students secretly at night without taking admission test. So, which institution is now free from corruption?

He said that Ziaur Rahman was a re-promoter of democracy in Bangladesh and a modernist of modern Bangladesh. One of the soldiers of today’s democracy – the government that illegally occupied Khaleda Zia – who has fought for democracy for a lifetime, has been illegally imprisoned.

He said that the women’s party has taken an oath to liberate Khaleda Zia and restore democracy. We hope that through the combined movement and struggle, we will liberate the country leader Khaleda Zia and democracy.
