An activist of Bangladesh Chhatra League was stabbed and injured by his rival activist group in Sylhet on Monday.
The victim was identified as Jasim Uddin, 18, son of Gias Uddin of Ingular Road at Kuarpar area in the city, police said.
Locals said that a group of five BCL activists stabbed Jasim in front of Akalkuar Mazar, a shrine, at Kuarpar around 1:30pm, leaving him seriously injured.
They said that Jasim was attacked following previous enmity between two factions of the Chhatra League to establish supremacy in the area.
Kotwali police officer-in-charge Selim Miah confirmed New Age of the incident and said the injured boy was sent to Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital for treatment after rescuing him from the spot.
‘Effort to arrest the persons involved with the attack is going on,’ he said in the evening.
