10 injured as BCL attacks JCD procession at JnU

At least 10 people were injured as the Bangladesh Chhatra League reportedly attacked a procession that Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal brought out on Jagannath University campus on Wednesday morning protesting at the murder of BUET student Abrar Fahad.

Witnesses said that a group of BCL activists, led by Minon Mahfuz, launched the attack at bout 9:30am.

Later, the police detained JnU unit JCD joint secretary Awli Howlader and activist Jahid.

Injured vice-president Mijanur Rahman Nahid and assistant general secretary Mijanur Rahman Sharif were taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital and Sumona Hospital respectively while the other injured took first aid from nearby clinics.

JnU unit JCD president Rafikul Islam condemned the incident.

Mowdud Hawlader, officer-in-charge, investigation, of Kotwali police station, said they detained the JCD activists to take the situation under control.
